Topic on Talk:FANDOM
I think you should keep the part where FANDOM is allergic of negative content. I mean, aren't you an admin because you look more logical?
The "FANDOM games reviews" part should be a blog of yours.
Reasons we need to add.
- They cannot take criticism.
- For some reason, they leave SJWs alone
- They would not let you advertise other wiki websites. (referata, Rationalwiki, Miraheze, etc.)
- Externally, no, not true, they don't seek to squelch it off their own site. On their site, well, if they don't want to hear it, they don;t have to host it, and you can't force them to, and if you seek to hassle them with it to piss them off, then I could understand if they banned anyone who tried, I'd do the same in their shoes.
- We need more evidence than one case which I'm sure you are referring to. You need multiple cases with citable evidence to prove that point.
- That's a stupid complaint. They are a wiki hosting service, of COURSE they wouldn't want to advertise potential competition, they are a business, no sane business wants to pimp possible business rivals.
What about malware ads.
You can try to block it using uBlock and Privacy Badger. Also for the reasons:
- The staff is aware of criticism and tries to resolve problems, however forcing it is something different.
- Still can't let go of that case, eh?
- OFC not, since they still need revenue. My concern however, is blocking users who moves to another host but not advertising it.
My chromebook is not affected by Fandom Malware Ads.
OFC not since ChromeOS doesn't have a real hard drive to store files. locally.
Its a School Chromebook. (that I use)
Windows 10 is not powerful enough to get through all of these Malware Ads.
Windows 10 is fine so long as you use Noscript and an adblocker in my experience
Can someone unlock the page so I can add the fact that there are malware ads.
Don´t forget to add the Categories called Corruption in Staff Management, and Bad Updates.
No offense, but you still can't seem to let certain topics drop, so forgive us if our trust in your judgment is poor.
The bad updates category should be added, they are famous for making several updates who complicate things and make the site less enjoyable and readable, mainly that nasty change to the Oasis skin.
Uh-oh. It looks like Angrybirdsfan is going to get blocked. Drop it and move on, kiddo.
Move on if you think it is right to move on. Others cannot decide for you. Just do not go to Community Central to complain because it is useless.
Remember that they used to censor the term SJW and that they removed the filter only because it blocked other edits. That choice wasn't related to PKMNLivesNew, it was something they decided to apply to the whole site.
I think they are at least somewhat scared of appearing as anti-SJW considered how they closed Awesome Games Wiki even if it was a positive wiki. Closing that wiki because it criticised SJWs is a bad thing and no one can pretend it didn't happen, it isn't a matter of letting topics drop or not, if their judgement is rotten then they are responsible of a mis-management which is legitimate to point out.
Plus, no one is holding a grudge against them because of PKMNLivesNew, FANDOM staff clearly said he didn't have a role in the closure of our wikis so it is all their fault if it happened, and it happened because of a reason that stinks of bigotry and hypocrisy.
I surely noticed that the guy could write an insulting blog against us without getting blocked because calling people SJWs is not allowed but calling anti-SJWs Hitler worshippers is totally okay and the offender will merely receive a slap on the wrist for that.
FANDOM staff globally blocked people who went to talk to the creep even if the (non-existing in most cases) offense only took place on Community Central, going against their policy of being overall friendly and to try to keep blocks to a minimum while dealing with situations.
They even instructed him not to talk about Crappy Games Wiki which is practically censorship applied to message walls, sometimes I feel it is like those users were blocked just because they talked about it. The reason they provided for most of the blocks was "toxic behaviour" by CGW users' part but it really seems like toxic behaviour against us is allowed given how they left a user congratulating PKMNLivesNew for the closure of CGW alone because maybe it is acceptable to hate users of a closed anti-SJW wiki. And it isn't possible staff didn't notice it because they were clearly patrolling the moron's message wall.
If you add that they unallowed talking about Crappy Games Wiki as a whole and that at least an admin of Community Central considered every Crappy Games Wiki user as an harassing troll you obtain a nice picture of prejudice and bigotry which could earn a specific pointer on the page if substained by other instances. It really is something that should be worth investigating especially considering it is a sort of recent change in FANDOM staff behaviour and I would do it myself if I were willing to spend time on a pitiful hypocritical site which advertise friendship and dialogue between users to resolve issues while it actually immediately blocks users for the slightest of things.
There is also the little fact about flip flopping a decision they just made a couple weeks before actually closing our wikis. I would love to exhaustively talking about that too but I said I don't feel like wasting too much time with them so I will merely mention that this probably means a member or two of FANDOM staff specifically is very bigot and whose judgement clearly overrules other lower ranked FANDOM staff members'; my bet is that BertH, who beahved like a scaredy cat/bigot and who personally closed Greatest Movies Wiki and replied to all of my previous questions about our closed wikis is this staff member, or maybe it is Brandon Rhea the trigger happy happy FANDOM fellow.
All this I wrote is to kindly invite you to avoid going to the opposite extreme while advising users not to think about FANDOM staff's recent behaviour because just because we were personally involved doesn't mean we have a clouded and colored judgement about this; there may really be a legitimate and serious flaw in FANDOM and their staff is perhaps tainted.
I really believe that if this is true it will fully shows in the near future but because it is currently somewhat uncertain, the proposed corruption category can't be added to the page.
And the fact that they blocked the sockpuppet of the moron, an account used to perpetuate cross-wiki harassment against a user, just for a limited period of time for unknown reasons, going against the rules of FANDOM in dealing with sockpuppetry. I would agree in dropping a loss at chess happened fifty years ago, but not a very partial behaviour that led to crass injustice.
