the main page has some problems. Read the next topic below: The main page is obsolete

The main page is obsolete

Maxkatzur (talkcontribs)
  1. Image links to deleted pages. Examples: BreadTube (about group of people), MeToo (political bias and written from POV)
  2. Forbidden Pages list is outdated. For example: two examples related to website fanbases stating that they don't dictate the website's actual quality; example related to YouTube videos.
  3. The picture left to page links has pictures related to now-deleted pages.

Some things that need to be changed on the main page

FatBurn0000 (talkcontribs)
  1. Replace the capital I in "internet" in the sentence "Negative ways to impact the Internet such as censorship or pranks to pull with a lowercase I because there is no need to add a capital to it.
  2. The thing about web reviewers/users/YouTubers being forbidden from this wiki in the rules section should be removed because it is already in the "Forbidden pages" section.
  3. "YouTube videos: To prevent clogging up the wiki." in the Forbidden pages section should be changed to "YouTube videos: Could clog up the wiki, should go on Terrible YouTube Videos Wiki" because Terrible YouTube Videos Wiki is the wiki for YouTube videos.
  4. "Any fandom & hatedom: Criticising these groups are against the Content Policy. Plus they are not websites and can apply to the real world as well." should be changed to "Any fandom and/or hatedom: Will most likely cause drama and is not necessarily related to websites." because criticising fandoms and hatedoms is not against the Content Policy because the content policy only says "wikis with the sole purpose of spreading unsubstained insult, hate or rumours against a person or group of people" which doesn't mean that it would violate the Content Policy because it says sole purpose, whereas this wiki's purpose is to criticise websites and other things related to the internet.
  5. "Any group of people: (Ex. Karens, Anti-Gachas, Trolls, White Knights): Same as fandoms and hatedoms." should be changed to "Any group of people: Can often not necessarily apply to just the internet" because of what I said above.
  6. "Anything that is determined by the site's user/fan base (DeviantArt, Rule 34, MyCast, etc.): The fanbase does not dictate the quality of the site, only the healthiness of the community." (yes I copypasted this but only because it was too long) should be changed to "Anything that mainly has problems due to the site's userbase: Not really fair considering that this doesn't really affect the quality of the site, and plus, userbases are just as much of a drama-starting topic as fandoms and hatedoms.
  7. "Any wikis (FANDOM is the only exception due to it being a service): Would cause drama if an admin found out their wiki is on this site, and to prevent this wiki from becoming Unfavorable Wikis & Users 2.0." should be changed to "Any wikis: Would cause drama if an admin found out their wiki is on this site, and to prevent this wiki from becoming Unfavorable Wikis and Users Wiki 2.0." because of multiple reasons:
    1. Fandom isn't really a wiki, it's a wiki-hosting site.
    2. The wiki was called Unfavorable Wikis and Users Wiki, not Unfavorable Wikis & Users. Here's proof.
  8. Remove "Internet trolls" from the forbidden pages because it counts as a "group of people".
Raidarr (talkcontribs)

The entire way rules are written on these wikis needs to change. But that's somewhat out of scope, so I'll just add to your observations instead.
9. List of wikis is horribly out of date. Still has the toy wikis on there.
10. The admins on the wiki and the contact list don't line up well at all. Current staff probably need to be reviewed for activity/interest and the contact section should be updated accordingly.
11. Featured pages Google and Fandom lead to redirects that aren't doing their job (though someone adding 'candidate for deletion' to these functional redirects is a partial cause of this).
12. Political content with little topical relevance to the wiki is also featured, particularly MeToo.

FatBurn0000 (talkcontribs)

The reason why some redirects are up for deletion is because they're pointless.

Raidarr (talkcontribs)

Regardless they are currently in use by the main page. This is a problem given it's the main page and they don't work. Though best practice is to simply update the main page to go to the destination articles in the first place.

Atomicstar (talkcontribs)

To add on to this, the text in rules and in forbidden pages shouldn't be centered, as it makes it more frustrating to read.

About the Forbidden Pages list...

Maxkatzur (talkcontribs)

There are entries with reasons that make no sense. Here are the examples:

  1. Any fandom & hatedom - We don't want to turn this wiki into Toxic Fandoms & Hatedoms 2.0. That wiki was obscure and is currently closed. Speaking of it being closed, it's beating an dead horse.
  2. YouTube videos - We don't want this wiki to become Wretched YouTube Videos 2.0. Again, the mentioned wiki is obscure and shut down
  3. Any wikis (FANDOM is the only exception due to it being a service) - Would cause drama if an admin finds out their wiki is on this site, and to prevent this wiki from becoming Unfavorable Wikis & Users Wiki 2.0. Yes, it can cause drama. But preventing this wiki from becoming an dead wiki is just beating an dead horse, and also, the mentioned wiki is obscure.

That's all I can choose. I hope the list will be updated into more sensical.

FatBurn0000 (talkcontribs)
  1. It is not beating a dead horse. Just because TFAHW is closed and deleted doesn't mean allowing it won't cause it to be Toxic Fandoms & Hatedoms Wiki 2.0.
  2. Same as above, however I do think that should change; it should instead say "YouTube videos - Should go on Terrible YouTube Videos Wiki (or mh:terribletvshows:Terrible Shows & Episodes Wiki if they're related to shows and/or episodes).
  3. Same as #1.
Maxkatzur (talkcontribs)

Those mentioned closed wikis are obscure, especially when they are closed.

FatBurn0000 (talkcontribs)
Maxkatzur (talkcontribs)

The newcomers of the wiki can be obvilious about those closed wikis.

Raidarr (talkcontribs)

The many references to closed wikis do need to stop. This is a project for a proper review of the front page system on QP.

The new logo is awful

Atomicstar (talkcontribs)

There was a previous request for comment on Qualitipedia Meta, the verdict was the keep everything as is for now. For most of the wikis the logos should be fine for now although they could really improve, but as for RWW, the new logo that was created around August is just awful. It looks like it is either a generic clipart supposedly depicting the internet, a logo for some 1990s web browser software or dial up internet service, or an icon from a forum running very old forum software. The old logo was fine, why couldn't we have kept it that way?

Raidarr (talkcontribs)

Frankly, this logo is one of the best ones that's on Qualitipedia at the moment. I know, that's not saying much. What's needed is a proper branding setup that we can apply to all wikis consistently.

Where social media content goes

FatBurn0000 (talkcontribs)

Alright, I want to say something here. I think that we need to change where YouTube videos are supposed to go. Technically, only YouTube videos related to shows should be on Terrible Shows & Episodes Wiki. Other YouTube videos should go on Terrible YouTube Videos Wiki or if they're Vyond videos, they should go on Trashy Vyond Videos Wiki.

Proposition for the good article template

TheRealEldegoss (talkcontribs)

"Imagine a place..." -Discord I came up with this idea since TTSW and AMW have unique "good article" templates.

MovieLover132 (talkcontribs)

Why Twitter is deleted?

TigerBlazer (talkcontribs)

The page was deleted along with many others for having most of its problems based entirely around the site's userbase, rather than the quality of the site itself.

TigerBlazer, please take care of the main page of this wiki

Maxkatzur (talkcontribs)
  1. Remove the links of the deleted pages and replace them.
  2. Update the Forbidden Pages list by expanding reasons, updating already here, such as anything that depends on its fandom, fandoms & hatedoms, groups of people, etc.

Please, @TigerBlazer. The main page looks outdated. Good luck!

Galaxy Star (talkcontribs)

Websites that had too many reasons that depend on their fandom or hatedom are already on Forbidden pages.

Maxkatzur (talkcontribs)

I meant to expand it, not add!

FatBurn0000 (talkcontribs)

Remove "YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind" from the main page, please. The article was deleted.
